।                                                 *2 /129

( RishiValmiki says ) Shri Ram, Sita ! Both of You enthrone Yourselves in the temple-heart of those, who     [ do incessent Jap of Your name ; perform relogious rites in diverse ways ; feed the learned and give them gifts ; and regard their preceptor even greater than You, while waiting upon him with all reverence, and, yet, ]

for all this, they pray for one reward only, " May there be love for Shri Ram's Lotus Feet."

    Personal Note : ---

This dialogue between Shri Ram and Rishi Valmiki, wherein, Shri Ram asks Valmikiji as to where he should reside, was referred to, by the enlightened and learned souls, who were considered as authority on Shri Ram Charit Manas, including Pujya Babuji, as " Ramayan".

For the benefit of the younger generation, which is not very familiar with Hindi grammar, literal meaning of 'Ramayan' is " Ram's abode / residence".

Rishi Valmiki took pains to describe the attributes of bhakt, and suggested their heart as an abode, where Ram ji  along with Sita ji and Lakshman ji could reside.

।                            *2/129/1

( Rishi Valmiki says Shri Raghuraj ! )  Dwell in the hearts of those, who are free from lust, anger, arrogance, pride, infatuation, greed, excitement, attachment, animosity, fraud, hypocrisy and cheating.

    Personal note :--

The aforesaid चौपाई could serve as the exhaustive list of vices, one needs to avoid.

    [ I would the younger generation to note that 4 अर्धाली ( as mentioned above ) constitute 1 चौपाई।  As such, the two sets of ।" have the same reference 2/129/1.]

    If we make a cross reference to श्रीमद्भगवतगीता , श्रीकृष्ण has enumerated to अर्जुन, आसुरी संपत्ति के लक्षण in the 3rd श्लोक of the XVI th Chapter.

In another book (दोहावली ), to emphasise that Ram ji and vices cannot co-exist, Goswami Tulsi Das ji says,

Shri Ram ! Abide in the hearts of those. who are dear to all and benefactor of all. who remain unaffected by pleasure or pain, praise or abuse, who thoughtfully speak truthful and pleasant words ; who remain in Your constant refuge while awake or asleep, and whose only asylum is in You.

Your abode is the heart of those, who regard another's wife as their own mother ; another's wealth as the deadliest of all poisons ; rejoice in others' prosperity, deeply grieve at others' distress ; and love You as their own life.

Shri Ram ! With Sita and Lakshman, reside in the heart-temple of those, who regard You as their father, mother, preceptor, master, companion and all the rest.

    Personal note :--

     Goswami Tulsi Das ji conveyed the same spiritual-emotional feeling in the "
